President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be taking the presidential oath at the 59th presidential inaugural ceremony next week. While Biden will become the 46th president of the United States, succeeding Donald Trump, Harris will be creating history by becoming the first woman, first Black person and the first person of South Asian descent to hold the office.

Unlike previous ceremonies, the event will remain closed for the public due to the ongoing pandemic and security concerns associated with the recent insurrection. It was announced that the Mall will remain closed during the event at The Capitol.
