Big Ang Tribute Special To Air On VH1 In March; Marathon Honoring ‘Mob Wives’ Star Begins Feb. 24
VH1 is honoring the wild and colorful life of Angela “Big Ang” Raiola with a special fit for a “Mob Wives” queen.
According to the network, VH1 will air a tribute episode to the deceased “Mob Wives” star in March. The special will celebrate Raiola and her “biggest TV moments,” the Wrap confirmed, adding that details about the tribute will be revealed at a later date.
However, fans of the reality star can pay homage to the bold New York native by tuning in to a marathon of Raiola’s spinoff series, “Big Ang.” The 10-episode installment, which premiered in 2012, focused on the fan-favorite “Mob Wives” star running her Staten Island bar, the Drunken Monkey.
The “Big Ang” marathon will kick off Wednesday at 9 p.m. after “Mob Wives” airs its Season 6 episode, “Cuts Both Ways.”
Raiola died of stage 4 brain and lung cancer Thursday, Feb. 18, at the age of 55. The mother of two was first diagnosed with the disease in April. The TV star then endured two procedures in an attempt to remove the cancerous lymph nodes. However, in December, Raiola received a throat scan and learned that the cancer had returned and spread.
“It’s shocking what happened,” Raiola revealed to Dr. Mehmet Oz on “The Dr. Oz Show” — an interview that would be her last. “I thought I was cancer-free, I was going to have a big celebration..."
The TV personality was memorialized Monday at her funeral in the Brooklyn borough of New York.
The full season of “Big Ang” will air Wednesday, Feb. 24, starting at 9 p.m. EST on VH1, an hour after “Mob Wives” airs Season 6, episode 8 at 8 p.m. EST. Audiences can expect the Big Ang tribute special to air in March.
