“Big Bang Theory” Season 10, episode 12 openend with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and the gang gathering for New Year’s Eve. Each of them had to share stories from their respective Christmas Day celebrations in “The Holiday Summation.”

Sheldon and Amy (Mayim Bialik) went to Texas for the holidays, so the former could spend some time with his mom, Mary (Laurie Metcalf). Before reaching her boyfriend's family’s home, Amy encouraged Sheldon to tell Mary the truth about their living arrangement. He agreed that it’s time to come clean.

At the dinner table, Amy nudged Sheldon as the latter’s cue to tell Mary the secret that he has been hiding from her. When Sheldon told his mom that he has been living in sin for quite some time now, he was surprised to discover that Mary seemed fine with it. In fact, Mary is pleased that Sheldon has finally had sex because she thought her son would end up alone for the rest of his life.

Sheldon got upset over the fact that Mary was thinking negative things about him. Amy tried to comfort him by telling him another secret. A few weeks ago, Amy already decided to get Mary’s blessing without Sheldon’s knowledge. After all, she knew how difficult it was for Sheldon to talk about such things with his mother.

A shocked Sheldon decided to rebel for a little bit by getting his ears pierced. When Mary saw his bling, she asked him to get rid of it. By the looks of it, Sheldon immediately regretted his bold move.

Elsewhere, Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Howard (Simon Helberg) had been having a hard time putting Hallie to sleep. The former became a bit emotional over the fact that Stuart (Kevin Sussman) can put her down and get her to sleep within minutes. But this didn’t stop her from bonding with Hallie. Howard also thought that Bernadette is the best mom and praised her for doing a wonderful job at motherhood.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 10 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
