'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Episode 6 Sneak Peak Reveals Surprising Inspiration For Amy's New Date [VIDEO]
Amy (Mayim Bialik) is going to get back into the dating game in episode 6 of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9. Her new love interest will be a man named Dave, played by guest star Stephen Merchant, who she meets on a new dating app. It will be Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) encouraging her to "swipe left" with Dave, but a sneak peek video from the episode reveals the inspiration for the dating app comes from a rather unlikely source -- Stuart (Kevin Sussman).
In the preview scene, Bernadette tells Penny all about how perpetual mooch Stuart recently went on a hot date. Penny is skeptical.
"So, is she, like, homeless, or framing him for a crime," Penny asks Bernadette.
To Penny's surprise, Stuart's date is not homeless. He met her on a new mobile dating app. The app sounds a whole lot like Tinder.
"It shows you pictures of people nearby, you swipe them around -- it looks like a game," says Bernadette.
"Oh," exclaims Penny. "And if you lose the game you have to go out with Stuart!"
All joking aside, the girls think the app would be just the thing to help Amy put herself back out there.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for episode 6 reveals that Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) suspect someone is trying to steal their idea for Superfluid Helium. They need more liquid helium to beat their competition to the punch and that leads to them to a shady, parking garage deal that has the duo doing their best 1970s crime show impressions. Sheldon demands the mystery man hand over the helium first, but the man insists they pay beforehand. Sheldon also decides not to use his real name, opting to go with the alias Skippy Cavanaugh, a "wedding planner who can't find love himself."
