'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Episode 9 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In 'The Platonic Permutation'?
Well, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) may not be together, but their forays into dating in episode 8 of CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" did not go too well. Sheldon could not get out of his own way and let the fact that Vanessa (guest star Analeigh Tipton) was a whole 30 seconds late in solving his Craigslist challenge keep him from a hot date. Meanwhile, it turned out Dave (guest star Stephen Merchant) was more interested in Sheldon than Amy. However, these setbacks may be just the thing to set "Shamy" back on the road to recovery, as the pair test the waters of friendship in Season 9's Thanksgiving episode, "The Platonic Permutation."
According to the synopsis for episode 9, Sheldon and Amy decide to spend Thanksgiving together with a trip to the aquarium ... as friends. This should be interesting. While the plan may be to keep it plutonic, there is sure to be some serious romantic tension in the air. Sheldon may claim he is ready to move on -- and his Fruit Stripe line in episode 7 was priceless -- but fans know better. After all, who would turn down Analeigh Tipton if their heart was not already taken?
Watch Sheldon shut down Vanessa in Season 9, episode 7:
Meanwhile, Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Emily (Laura Spencer) are in the holiday spirit and ask a reluctant Howard (Simon Helberg) to volunteer at a soup kitchen -- SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will be making a cameo. Howard, though, is not thrilled with the idea -- perhaps because of Musk? And Penny (Kaley Cuoco) realizes that Leonard (Johnny Galecki) knows a bit more about her than she thought as they celebrate their first Thanksgiving as a married couple.
How will Sheldon and Amy's plutonic aquarium visit go? Fans will have to wait to find out. "The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
