‘Big Little Lies’ Creator Jean-Marc Vallee Finally Addreses Season 2 Renewal Rumors
“Big Little Lies” creator Jean-Marc Vallee may have just broken the hearts of the HBO TV series’ fans.
Following the highest-rated episode of “Big Little Lies” on Sunday, April 2, Vallee confirmed that there won’t be a second season for the miniseries. While speaking with Vulture, he said, “No, no, this is the perfect ending. There is no way; there is no reason to make a Season 2. That was mean to be a one-time deal, and it’s finishing in a way where it’s for the audience to imagine what can happen. If we do a Season 2, we’ll break that beautiful ending and spoil it.”
But even though Vallee is no longer interested in releasing a second season for “Big Little Lies,” cast member Nicole Kidman is more open to the idea of reprising her role as Celeste. In an interview with TV Line, the actress said that she loves being on television every week.

“Well, Liane Moriarty, because it’s her story, she concocted it. And then David E. Kelly, because he then took it to the series level. So between Liane and David, I would hope that they could come up with something. I mean, it took us six months to shoot this. I think there is something compelling and extraordinary that they could come up with, then we would want to go and embody these women again? That would be a beautiful prospect,” she said.
Meanwhile, cast member Reese Witherspoon was asked the same questions by fans on Twitter. While speaking with InStyle, she urged fans to reach out to Moriarty via social media so that their requests could be heard. And if ever a Season 2 will be confirmed, Witherspoon said she wants Jennifer Lopez to be part of the show because she is a huge fan of hers.
