Rapper Big Sean has revealed that his hit song “IDFWU” is not a diss track aimed at his late ex-fiancée, Naya Rivera, contrary to rumors.

During an interview with Vulture, the Detroit rapper opened up about “IDFWU” — an abbreviation for “I don’t f–k with you” — and said it was “hurtful” to have the song associated with her.

“I don’t feel comfortable talking about it because I want to respect her,” he said when asked if he regretted making the song. “She’s made such an impact on people, and she’s done so many great things in her life and her career that it was hurtful to even have that [song] be associated with her.”

Sean released the song in September 2014, just five months after his split from the “Glee” actress, who died of accidental drowning on July 8 at Ventura County’s Lake Piru following a boat trip.

However, he clarified that “It wasn’t a diss to her.”

Sean added that Rivera knew about the song and even liked it. She performed to the song during her 2019 appearance on “Lip Sync Battle.”

“If I would have known something this tragic would have happened, I would have never made the song,” he said.

Sean and Rivera had a public falling out after the rapper called off their engagement. Sources told TMZ at the time that Sean was scared off by Rivera's anger and jealousy. Although they tried couples therapy, they failed to resolve their issues, the sources said.

Rivera went on to marry Ryan Dorsey, with whom she shared a son. Sean is currently dating singer Jhene Aiko.

Following Rivera’s death, Sean had penned an emotional note, saying that he cherished her.

“I appreciate and cherish everything that ever happened between us for making me wiser and a better person,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m still grieving and in shock, I can’t believe this is real. I’m praying for you and your family and I know your watching over them and protecting them. Rest In Peace Naya.”

Rivera was with her 4-year-old son, Josey, when she passed away.

Rivera had rented a pontoon boat for the outing with her son, and they went swimming in the California reservoir. However, a few hours later, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department received a report of the 4-year-old being found alone floating on the boat.

Rivera’s body was recovered five days later.
