Jillian Michaels warned people against visiting public gyms after she contracted COVID-19.

Michael admitted that she tested positive from COVID-19 a few weeks ago but has since recovered. In an interview with Fox Business host Liz Claman on Tuesday, she shared that she "let her guard down for an hour with a friend" and before she knew it, she already had COVID-19.

"If you are afraid of COVID, you should not go to the gym. And I actually am a person who let my guard down, I haven’t even spoken about this publicly really, and a very close friend of mine gave me COVID several weeks ago," Michaels said.

"I’m fortunate to have gone into it being healthy and I was able to get on the other side of it pretty quick. But, not everyone is that lucky as we know. And all I can tell you is if you are afraid of getting COVID, a public gym is probably a place where you will get it."

Michaels also explained that she got the disease from one of her best friends who does her hair and makeup. Both of them were not aware that one of them was already COVID-19 positive, so "The Biggest Loser" star already had the contagious disease when she got home. Because of this, she is strongly discouraging the people from visiting gyms at this time especially that there are asymptomatic patients who aren’t aware of their condition.

"It’s just that simple. So if you’re not in a mask and that person is not in a mask, and they have COVID and have no idea — because, by the way, I had no idea that I had it for six days [and] my friend had no idea that she had it when she gave it to me — anticipate that you will likely get it in an environment like that and if you are afraid of it, by all means, it’s not a move that I would recommend making," she added.

The health guru and media personality's businesses were affected by the pandemic. For instance, her gym-based BODYSHRED classes that were taught in fitness facilities are no longer "financially viable." However, the Jillian Michaels: The Fitness App is experiencing 30 percent growth because many people are focusing on home workouts while quarantining.
