Bike Grip Removed From Woman's Uterus Years After Husband Angrily Inserted It
A six-inch plastic grip of a bike handle was removed from a woman’s uterus in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Police said the woman’s husband inserted the handle into the woman two years ago.
The 36-year-old unidentified woman filed a police complaint Sunday stating that her “husband’s atrocity had left her in unbearable pain.” The man was arrested the same day and the woman was rushed to a local hospital where she underwent surgery Tuesday.
“Two years ago the couple fought over the kids. The man beat her up and inserted the bike handle piece in her private part in a fit of rage. The woman didn’t share her ordeal out of shame and worried over the future of the kids,” a police officer told local daily the Hindustan Times.
The officer said a few months ago the victim felt unbearable pain and went to a local hospital. The doctors asked the woman to undergo an emergency operation. However, due to financial constraint, she decided against it.
“On hearing about the huge amount of money the poor woman preferred to run away from the hospital. On Sunday, she reached Chandan Nagar police station in bad shape,” the officer said, adding that the police filed a complaint and rushed her to a local hospital.
Doctors performed the “complex surgery” of four hours and removed the plastic grip. They said the grip was pushed right up the victim’s uterus, urine bladder and small intestine.
In a statement, the hospital said the infection had spread in the area and could have spread to other parts of the body if the surgery was not carried out.
“The operation went on for four hours and we removed the plastic piece. We also treated the damaged parts. Her condition is now stable,” a doctor said, the Indian Express reported.
