Biker Succumbs To Injuries After Collision With Combine Harvester
A biker has died after running into a combine harvester while riding his bike near Ruthin, Denbighshire.
The incident took place near Nant y Garth Pass, at 1.10 pm on Sunday on the A525. The accident site is located in Pentre Celyn, near Ruthin, between Llysfasi College and nearby quarries.
The Police confirmed to BBC that the man had died on spot.
According to Nicola Grimes-Williams, of North Wales Roads Policing Unit, “Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends at this difficult time."
The Police force has requested the witnesses or anyone having dashcam footage of the mishap to get in touch. The collision which involved a combine harvester and a motorbike amounted to closing down the road in both directions for more than six hours after the incident.
According to Sergeant Nicola Grimes-Williams of the roads policing unit, “Sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time, We are appealing for any witnesses, or anybody who may have been travelling along that particular stretch of road and who may have dash cam footage to contact us as soon as possible." North Wales Live reported.
Motorists are asked by the North Wales Police Force to steer clear of the area and find alternative routes as the incident drove traffic between Llandegla and Llysfasi at an impasse.
According to a Wales Ambulance Service spokeswoman, “We were called at 1.07pm and sent multiple resources to the scene, including an overland ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an Air Ambulance also attended. "
A similar incident happened in which a cyclist had died after colliding with a combine harvester in rural Northumberland village.
The 77-year-old cyclist was passing across the village of Ogle, Northumberland, when he collided with the combine harvester. He was pronounced dead at the scene after Emergency services intervened. Sergeant Ray Lowery, of Northumbria Police ’s motor patrols department told Chronicle Live, “This is a really tragic collision in the middle of rural Northumberland. It is devastating for the family of the cyclist and we have specially-trained family liaison officers supporting them at this difficult time.”
