Bill Clinton Visits George H.W. Bush, Gifts His Predecessor A Pair Of Socks

Former President Bill Clinton visited his predecessor George H. W. Bush and wife Barbara in Houston, Texas, during the weekend and spent quality time with them.

Clinton posted a photo on Twitter on Sunday that showed him giving George H. W. Bush a pair of green socks with dogs printed on it and another pair in blue with bees printed on it. He captioned the tweet, "Great to spend time with George H.W. Bush & Mrs. Bush in Houston today. We caught up about kids, grandkids, old times and new times. And socks."

The 41^st president has become quite famous for his love for patterned socks and he also owns an extensive collection.

BuzzFeed dedicated a listicle to Bush’s love for socks in July 2014, with an entire slideshow of pictures of his festive ankle wear. Some of the designs that have been prominent on his socks throughout the years are:

His own face
Polka dots
Superman logos
Argyle
Cacti
Stripes

Bush loves his socks so much that he even got some other political figures to wear those on his 89^th birthday, according to the Washington Times.

This isn't the first time Clinton has brought socks as gift for H.W. Bush. In 2013, Clinton gifted him ankle wear, when he visited the family in Maine. He then tweeted a picture with Bush saying, "Enjoyed my annual lunch with President and Mrs. Bush in Maine. Envious of his 'western cactus'-themed socks.#sockswag."

"Bush, 41 has been known for wearing colorful socks for years, but it has been most noticed really ever since he has been depending on wheelchairs for mobility — exposing his ankles," Bush's spokesman Jim McGrath said in an email to New York Daily News.

In January this year, Bush was hospitalized in Texas for two weeks as he suffered from pneumonia. During that time, his wife Barbara also underwent medical treatment. Bush suffers from a form of Parkinson's disease and uses a motorized scooter or a wheelchair for mobility. He served as president of the United States from 1989 to 1993.
