This is one musical event you do not want to miss! On Sunday, May 17, your favorite musical artists will gather for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards presentation. Check out everything you should know about the musical show set to rock the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
1. When And Where Will The Event Be Shown?
Dating back to 1989, the Billboard Music Awards presentation this year will be on ABC, beginning at 8 p.m. EDT.
2. Who Is Hosting?
The show will be co-hosted by rapper-turned-actor Ludacris (“Furious 7”) and model Chrissy Teigen.
3. Who Will Be Performing?
The 2015 Billboard Music Awards event will be star-studded, with dozens of performances. Among the more notable performers set to hit the stage this year are Kanye West, Van Halen, Ed Sheeran, Nick Jonas, Imagine Dragons (paying tribute to the late Ben E. King), Hozier, Fifth Harmony and Chris Brown.
Some of the biggest names in music will be teaming up for their performances. The most anticipated collaborations include Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea; Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa; Nicki Minaj and David Guetta; and “Empire” stars Jussie Smollett and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray.
In addition, Mariah Carey will be giving her first performance on the Billboard awards stage since 1998.
4. ‘Bachelorette’ Fever
Many celebrities will be presenting at 2015 Billboard awards, ranging from Kylie Jenner to Zendaya. But we’re most looking forward to catching the newest stars of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson, as they present awards during the foot-tapping event.
5. Must-Watch Moments
As if we weren’t already excited to catch the 2015 Billboard awards event, it was recently revealed that Taylor Swift, who leads the nominations with a whopping 14, will give her “Bad Blood” music video its premiere at the beginning of the ceremony, according to Billboard.
Swift announced via Instagram May 7 she will be playing a character named Catastrophe in the Joseph Kahn-directed music video. Many of the presenters, including “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo and model Lily Aldridge, will also be featured in the celebrity-stuffed video.
6. Will Sam Smith Sing?
Smith, who was previously slated to perform during the awards show, will be out of commission for six to eight weeks because of his recent surgery, according to MTV.
The singer had a “small hemorrhage” on his vocal cords, which is why he opted to go under the knife. But Smith promised he’d return being “able to sing like never before.” Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the “Stay With Me” artist will be able to show off his new and improved voice this Sunday.
