Building on its music platform, Apple (APPL) has announced its inaugural music awards, which will cap off with a live performance by its Global Artist of the Year.

The performance will be live-streamed globally on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. PST from the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, featuring Billie Eilish as the headliner. Eilish took the top honors from the Apple Music Awards as the Global Artist of the Year by a unanimous decision.

Apple said the music awards are “a celebration of the best and boldest musicians of 2019.” The award also honors the impact that these musicians had on “global culture” throughout the year.

The Apple Music Awards will also celebrate:

  • Songwriter of the Year: Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas
  • Breakthrough Artist of the Year: Lizzo
  • Album of the Year: Billie Eilish’s “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”
  • Song of the Year: Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”

Apple selected the winners of the Global Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year with the help of its global editorial team. The awards for Album of the Year and Song of the Year were based on streaming data from Apple Music users throughout 2019.

“The Apple Music Awards are designed to recognize the passion, energy and creativity of the world’s favorite artists,” Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and international content said. “The musically diverse group of inaugural winners have sparked deep social conversation, influenced culture and inspired our customers around the world. We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate them.”

Shares of Apple stock were down 2.45% as of 10:09 a.m. EST on Tuesday.
