Bindi Irwin Sides With Mother Terri Following Grandfather Bob’s Wedding Snub

Bride-to-be Bindi Irwin just made it clear that she’s siding with her mother, Terri Irwin, amid the latter’s long-running feud with her grandfather, Bob.

On Monday, the 21-year-old conservationist took to Instagram to share a snap of her mother. In her caption, Bindi thanked Terri for being her “best friend” and for giving her “support” and “always encouraging” her to follow her dreams.

“You are the greatest mama on the plant and I’m so blessed to have your light in my life,” the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 21 winner concluded her post.

It appears that Bindi’s post was her subtle response to the snubbing incident that happened last week. Apparently, her grandfather Bob, the father of the late Steve Irwin, didn’t acknowledge Bindi’s engagement and upcoming wedding.

“I want nothing to do with any of it. I’m not the slightest bit interested in it. I am not interested, not the slightest bit. I have ad years and years of this stuff,” Bob said when asked in an interview if he is going to attend Bindi and Chandler Powell’s upcoming nuptials.

The 80-year-old conservationist also refused to extend his well-wishes to his estranged granddaughter. When asked if he is willing to congratulate Bindi, he said, “My thoughts have nothing to do with any of it.”

Bob and Bindi’s family have this long-running family feud mainly because of what the Australia Zoo has become after Steve’s passing in 2006. For Bob, the zoo has become “too commercialized” and so he has decided to resign and distance from it in 2008.

In 2015, Bob publicly disclosed that he was no longer on speaking terms with his family. At the time, he admitted that it was a sad situation but “it’s just the way things are.”

After Bob snubbed Bindi’s wedding announcement, Terri defended her daughter. According to her, while it is unfortunate that Bob couldn’t be happy for Bindi like the rest of them, she’ll make sure that her daughter would still have a “great wedding.”

Meanwhile, Bindi and Chandler, 22, are reportedly eager to start a family following their engagement. The couple is said to be planning to get pregnant ahead of their wedding. Bindi reportedly does not mind being a pregnant bride.
