Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell got engaged this week. And ahead of their wedding, the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 21 champion has made a request to her younger brother, Robert.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, the 21-year-old conservationist revealed that she’s asked her 15-year-old brother to walk her down the aisle when the time comes for her to exchange “I do's” with Powell.

“I think that for me, it’ll be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle. That’s something that I really want to do,” Bindi said.

Bindi and Robert are the kids of the late esteemed zookeeper, Aussie conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin, who would have been the one to fill the role in the ceremony.

Sadly, the Irwin patriarch passed away in 2006 after obtaining a stingray injury. So it is now up to Robert to take on the special role for his sister on the latter’s big day.

“I'm always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life and he's always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life,” Bindi said.

The “Bindi the Jungle Girl” host added that she’s certain their father would have also wanted Robert to play the part in her wedding ceremony.

“[Robert] will definitely be the one to walk me down the aisle when the time comes, and I think that will make it really special. And I think that’s what dad would have wanted as well,” she said.

As for the traditional father-daughter dance, Bindi is planning to have their mother Terri stand in for their late father. According to her, she will have her wedding dance with her mom who has been her “pillar of strength in life.”

After Steve’s passing, Bindi, Robert and Terri have decided to continue his legacy by engaging in animal conservation efforts, according to Daily Mail. They continue to support Wildlife Warriors Worldwide charity, the organization Terri and Steve founded in 2002.

Bindi and her wakeboarder fiancé got engaged on Wednesday, July 24, after dating for the last six years. The two reportedly met at an Australian zoo where Bindi was giving guided tours.
