Dwayne Johnson's highly anticipated superhero movie, "Black Adam," is all set to release on July 29, 2022. The 48-year-old former professional wrestler took to Instagram on Sunday to share a video of Times Square in New York City, where the announcement was first made.

In the video, the big screens at Times Square went dark for a couple of seconds and then they flashed the "Black Adam" title along with the movie's release date. In the background, Johnson's voice could be heard. "The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change," he said.

"A disruptive and unstoppable global force of a message from the man in black himself," he captioned the clip. "BLACK ADAM is coming July 29, 2022. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change."

A couple of hours before the announcement, Johnson took to Instagram to tease fans with the upcoming big announcement "on the street." He also posted an animated video of Black Adam's character and how it evolved over time.

"Word on the street is that Black Adam, himself is making an announcement today. Lets see what he has in store as the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change," he wrote in the caption. "Stay tuned."

Last week, Johnson announced on Instagram that Pierce Brosnan would also join "Black Adam" to portray the iconic character of Dr. Fate.

"Such a pleasure to announce the final member of our #JusticeSociety, the bad ass statesman, Mr @PierceBrosnanOfficial as the iconic and all knowing, DR. FATE," he said in his post. "I’m grateful to have such a talented, diverse and hungry cast."

He also said the production would begin in three weeks.

Besides actively sharing updates regarding his first superhero movie, Johnson is also promoting the "Young Rock" sitcom, which is based on real events in his life.

He recently revealed on Instagram that his mother, Ata Johnson, has gone through many challenges in life, including a divorce, a battle with cancer and a suicide attempt.

"She survived it ALL and ironically, though not surprisingly - my mom is THE kindest, most caring and JOYFUL human being I have ever met," he shared.

While "Black Adam" is slated to release on July 29, 2022, a new "Young Rock" episode comes out every Tuesday on NBC.
