'Black Widow' Movie: Superpowers Of The Villain From Comics
The Taskmaster has been confirmed as the main villain in the upcoming “Black Widow” 2020 solo movie. Details about movie version of the character and who plays this role are currently being kept under wraps, but the comics give fans a good idea about what to expect.
Concept artist Andy Park recently confirmed the name of the villain in an illustration of the film he shared on Instagram. The concept art revealed that the Taskmaster will be wearing a mask and a hood.
The Taskmaster made his first appearance in the 1980 comic book “The Avengers.” In the comics, his powers were revealed to be the ability to memorize and mimic the fighting style of his adversaries, BuzzFeed reported.
Some of the spectacular things the Taskmaster was able to do in the comics include the ability to perfectly mimic the rope tricks of cowboys by simply watching TV, Entertainment Weekly reported. He later used his abilities to learn and mimic the fighting styles of different heroes, but used these abilities for evil.
In the comics, the Taskmaster used his abilities to train others to become supervillains. He would also offer his services to the highest bidder from time to time, when he was not training other villains. It remains to be seen how this character will be portrayed in the “Black Widow” movie.
As far as the backstory of the Taskmaster is concerned, he became a popular athlete in high school after watching just one football game. It remains to be seen if the upcoming movie will have a different backstory, if the filmmakers choose to explore the origins of the character.
“Black Widow” has been directed by Cate Shortland, who is known for directing projects like “Berlin Syndrome.” The script has been written by Ned Benson. The film will be released on May 1, 2020.
