'Black Widow' Release Date Pushed Back By Disney Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
KEY POINTS
- "Black Widow" has become the latest movie to get postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic
- The new release date has not yet been announced
- "The Woman In The Window" and "The Personal History Of David Copperfield" have also been postponed
Marvel’s “Black Widow” has become the latest movie to get affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The makers have decided to postpone the release of the movie because of the rising number of cases that are being reported throughout the country.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news on the postponement of the release of the stand-alone movie on the life of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow — one of the highly-anticipated movies of the year. Scarlett Johansson is reprising the role of the titular character that first appeared in 2010’s “Iron Man 2.” The cast of the film includes Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour in pivotal roles. The movie was originally slated to release on May 1, 2020.
The new release date has not yet been announced but it could be safe to say that moviegoers might have to wait for months to see the movie that they have been waiting for so long.
Apart from “Black Widow,” two more movies have been pushed back by the production company. Amy Adams’ “The Woman In The Window” and Dev Patel’s “The Personal History Of David Copperfield” will get new release dates in the coming weeks.
“The Woman In The Window” was also one of the big releases of the year with names like Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Anthony Mackie attached to it.
“Black Widow” joins the ever-growing list of movies that have been postponed due to the pandemic. Big projects like “No Time To Die,” “Mulan,” “Fast And Furious 9,” and “A Quiet Place: Part II” have already been delayed. Most of the movies are yet to announce the new release dates because the theaters have been shut down indefinitely.
A few days ago, a report suggested that the global film industry is looking at losses worth $5 billion because of the deadly disease. But the numbers could go higher if the theaters remain closed for more number of days.
