‘The Blacklist’ Season 3 Spoilers: Photo From Set Shows Red And Liz Undercover As Cops
Fans of "The Blacklist" have been waiting all summer to learn what became of Red (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone) after they fled the country and the sinister Cabal at the end of the Season 2 finale. Now, a photo from the set of the NBC series' upcoming Season 3 gives fans a clue as to what the pair will be up to when the show returns this fall.
"The Blacklist" co-creator Jon Bokenkamp tweeted a photo from the set of Season 3, which is currently in production, Tuesday night. The photo shows Bokenkamp flanked by series stars James Spader and Megan Boone. However, it is the wardrobe of Spader and Boone that is sure to grab viewers' attentions. The pair are sporting blue police officer uniforms, suggesting the on-the-run partners have a little undercover work ahead of them in the new episodes.
Fans will remember that in the Season 2 finale, Red and Liz were forced to flee the country together after the Cabal set Liz up to take the fall for the murder of a U.S. Senator and Attorney General Tom Connolly (Reed Birney). Liz did shoot Connolly, but only because he was a corrupt Cabal leader blackmailing her and her FBI colleagues, putting FBI director Cooper (Harry Lenix) in prison. Liz's memory returned in the episode as well, allowing her to remember the night of the fire and recall that she, not Red, shot her father. With the knowledge that Red had indeed been protecting her all this time, the two made peace and Red helped Liz evade capture from the Cabal, both of them boarding an unmarked white van at the end of the episode.
If Bokenkamp's picture is any indication, posing as cops appears to be a part of Liz and Red's continued effort to remain in hiding. It will certainly be fun to see them working together again, especially undercover.
How will Liz and Red handle the Cabal? Fans will have to wait to find out. "The Blacklist" returns to NBC Thursdays for Season 3 on Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. EDT.
