‘The Blacklist’ Spinoff Series Will Feature Similar Task Force Dynamic Found On Original Show
“The Blacklist” Season 3 has only two episodes remaining, but they will be crucial to the series going forward as well as setting up a possible spinoff. Not much has been revealed about the new show, but it sounds like it could have a similar dynamic to the current NBC drama.
Entertainment Weekly reports the spinoff series will be like “The Blacklist” except the team the show will focus on won’t follow the law to get things done. Amir Arison, who plays Aram on “The Blacklist,” said the organization Halcyon Aegis breaks all of the rules, but members aren’t necessarily villains. Viewers will get to see Halcyon in action in episode 22.
“They can do whatever they want. It adds some spark, some humor, some conflict, but at least for that episode, we have the same goal, and that is to get Alexander Kirk,” Arison dished.
Arison added fans will see the teams are similar. Halcyon will have a computer guy like Aram while Mr. Solomon (Edi Gathegi) and Nez Rowan (Tawny Cypress) will be like Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and Samar (Mozhan Marnò), sort of. Solomon and Rowan were two of the key team members trying to kidnap Liz (Megan Boone) in episodes 17 and 18.
Episode 22 will reveal what exactly gets Tom (Ryan Eggold) to want to continue to work with Halcyon in the spinoff. Halcyon is led by Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen) and she will do her best to recruit Tom in Thursday’s episode. It appears Tom will team up with Halcyon to take down Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), who Red (James Spader) says is the man behind Liz’s death. Fans can expect most of the focus to be on Halcyon in the episode, which will serve as the backdoor pilot of the spinoff.
The pursuit of Kirk will take place throughout the final two episodes of “The Blacklist” Season 3 and could wrap up in next week’s finale. Tom had previously said goodbye to his spy life to raise his daughter and also to be the best husband he could to Liz. Now that she’s gone, Tom’s quest for revenge will pull him back in and something could happen that will make him continue to work with Hargrave and Halcyon. It’s rumored that if the spinoff series gets a green light, Tom and Hargrave are going to have a relationship similar to the one Red and Liz developed on “The Blacklist.”
