Blackpink Fans React To Group's Upcoming Album, World Tour Announcement: 'We Survived A Hiatus'
The long-awaited Blackpink reunion is happening next month and fans could not contain their joy.
Despite not recording new musical projects as a group for two years, Blackpink remains a force to reckon with either as a K-pop group or as solo performers.
Music label YG Entertainment confirmed Wednesday the group's reunion will happen next month. It also announced that the band members Jennie Kim, Lisa Manobal, Roseanne Park (Rosé) and Kim Ji-Soo will conduct their "largest-ever" world tour by the end of the year.
Following the announcement, Blackpink fans, collectively known as BLINKS, went into a festive mood on Twitter to celebrate the group's reunion activities
"Blinks….for all of you who have survived this 2 year drought, the longest in Blackpink's career, let me just say, THE WAIT IS OVER BLACKPINK IS COMING," a BLINK member commented.
Another supporter was proud that they survived the long break from the quartet and said, "This fanbase survived a Blackpink hiatus. AUGUST IS FOR BLACKPINK."
Another fan offered an explanation for the timing of the announcement.
"YG saw that earnings report and immediately announced a Blackpink comeback."
The stock value of YG Entertainment rose by 11% Wednesday and reached $39.52 following the announcement of Blackpink's reunion.
As if the announcement was not enough to enliven the fans, loyal supporters were also treated to an exciting new live broadcast from Lisa and Rosé on V Live app Wednesday.
A fan shared a portion of the live stream showing the pair discussing the price of a steak bought by Rosé and captioned it, "Not Lisa convincing Rosé to cook her an expensive steak on V Live today. Thanks to Chaelisa now I'm more hopeful for a BP comeback."
One user tweeted the pair's rather chaotic attempt to do the "Jiggle Jiggle" challenge during the V Live broadcast.
The upcoming event will be the second world tour by Blackpink following the successful "In Your Area" concerts, which were held between November 2018 and February 2020.
