Blackpink Makes History As YouTube’s First Artist To Surpass 70 Million Subscribers

South Korean girl group Blackpink is the first artist to surpass 70 million subscribers on the video sharing platform, YouTube.
The female quartet reached more than 70 million subscribers on the video sharing platform Sunday, their management agency, YG entertainment reported.
The “How You Like That” singers achieved the feat in five years and five months after they launched their YouTube channel on June 28, 2016.
The girl group edged out Justin Bieber who has 66.4 million subscribers sending him to the second place among artists with the highest number of subscribers on YouTube.
In addition to this, Lisa’s exclusive performance video for “Money” also hit 300 million views on YouTube on Monday.
Blackpink’s official twitter account posted a message of gratitude to fans (known as BLINKs) of the famous girl group saying, “BLINKs worldwide, thank you so much!”
In a recent interview with the “Zach Sang Show,” Lisa hinted that the group is working on new music even as she is promoting her solo album which was launched in September.
Asked if the group is back in the studio, Lisa lowered her voice and whispered, “We’re back together.”
She continued, “That’s like a secret. Yeah, we’re like [getting] together again.”
The host went on to ask the “Lalisa” singer if she is planning on collaborating with any artist for her second album.
Without a hint of hesitation, Lisa replied that she is rooting for a new Blackpink project knowing that BLINKs have been clamoring for a new album from the group.
She said, "I haven’t thought about it yet because I just finished my solo project. I think we need to come back together with Blackpink because fans are waiting. BLINKs are like, 'When is the comeback gonna be?'"
The 24-year-old Blackpink member is currently in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 following her return from the U.S.
Blackpink has previously collaborated with Dua Lipa for "Kiss And Make Up" in 2018, Lady Gaga for the track "Sour Candy" in 2020 and with Selena Gomez for the song "Ice Cream" in 2020.
Meanwhile, Jisoo’s drama with multi-awarded actor Jung Hae-In, “Snowdrop” is set to premiere on Dec. 18 and will be streaming on Disney Plus.
