Blackpink's 'How You Like That' Hits Over 1B Views; Fans Ask For New Group Activities
Blackpink keeps hitting the billion mark in its music videos. The dance video for the group's 2020 track “How You Like That” released in 2020 recently surpassed one billion views on YouTube, proving the quartet's superstar status despite not having released music for over a year now.
“How You Like That” dance performance video hit over one billion views on the video-sharing platform Monday, nearly two years after its release in July 2020. It is the fifth Blackpink video to ever hit a billion views on YouTube following “DDU-DDU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” “BOOMBAYAH" and “As If It’s Your Last.”
Blackpink expressed gratitude to its fans, known as BLINKS, and wrote on Twitter, “Blackpink’s ‘How You Like That’ Dance Performance video hits 1 Billion views @YouTube BLINKS worldwide, thank you so much!”
BLINKS rejoiced over the news but many of them also voiced their impatience over the delay in the comeback activities of Blackpink.
“Please tell us about BLACKPINK's comeback. It feels like I'm going to collapse,” a fan wrote.
Another one said, “the first dance video to reach 1 billion views in YouTube history. this is really insane but let's not deviate from the main topic, WHERE IS THE NEW MUSIC?”
Blackpink did not release new music as a group in 2021. The group's last studio album, “The Album,” was released in October 2020 and saw so much success even in the U.S. It continues to hold its grip on Billboard’s World Albums Chart. In January, “The Album” was at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and it has stayed there for a total of 69 weeks. “The Album” contains the Selena Gomez-collaboration track, “Ice Cream,” “How You Like That” and “Pretty Savage.”
Blackpink debuted on U.S. television in 2019 when the group guested in “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” The quartet embarked on its North America tour in the same year. They were also the first K-pop artists to appear in Coachella in 2019. In 2020, “How You Like That” made it to No. 20 of Billboard’s staff-curated list of the 25 best music videos of the year.
