Blackpink’s Jisoo has called music producer Teddy Park the fifth member of the K-pop group.
Jisoo, along with her fellow Blackpink members Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, spoke about Park while promoting their new documentary, "Light Up the Sky," which he executive produced.
"I think Teddy also knows us individually very well," Jisoo said about the producer at a recent press conference, ABS-CBN reported. "He listens to what we have to say to each other and he is able to reflect that into the direction of our music."
She added that he is an important part of their success.
"Teddy is definitely our fifth member," Jisoo said.
Park has been working with Blackpink since the girl group's debut in 2016. He produced their first two albums, "Square One" and "Square Two," as well as wrote and produced their EPs "Square Up" and "Kill This Love."
Park also worked on Blackpink's latest offering, "The Album," which dropped on Oct. 2.
The 42-year-old was a member of hip-hop act 1TYM before becoming an in-house producer at YG Entertainment.
He has worked with a number of other popular K-pop groups such as Big Bang and 2NE1 and singers like Psy and Sunmi.
In 2016, he co-founded YG subsidiary The Black Label, whose artists include singer Jeon Somi and hip-hop artist Zion.T.
While Park has largely stayed away from the limelight after transforming into a producer, he grabbed headlines in 2017 when rumors hinted at a romance between him and Jennie, who is 18 years his junior.
However, YG Entertainment quickly shut down the rumors.
"This is the first time we've heard about Teddy and Jennie’s dating rumor," YG Entertainment said in a statement. "The rumor about Teddy and Jennie’s dating rumor are not true. We’ll be taking legal actions against groundless rumors."
Blackpink’s "Light Up the Sky" is available to stream on Netflix starting Wednesday. It will give fans access to never-before-seen footage of the girls from their journey to becoming a highly successful K-pop group.
The documentary also promises to show the ups and downs the members faced during their early days.
