Blake Lively and Sarah Jessica Parker, 'Sex and The City' [Pictures]
Gossip Girl's Blake Lively may be the new Upper East Side fashionista, but before 'Serena Van der Woodsen,' there was Sex and The City character 'Carrie Bradshaw.' It recent months has been rumored that Blake Lively will play Carrie in Sex and The City prequel.
It seems befitting that Lively play the character of a young Bradshaw struggling to get through her twenties -- leading her up to the struggle of her thirties but so far it's all speculation.
There is no prequel for Sex and The City in pre-production and it's not certain that Lively would be cast.
MTV caught up with Sarah Jessica Parker at Cannes, where Parker stated, I think it always comes down to story . . . and obviously I feel proprietary, in the best possible way, about that entire franchise, she admitted.
But I think there are lots of talented storytellers, and lots of talented actors who might be part of it, and I think like anything you base your opinion on material and content.
And that would be the only way for any of us to have an opinion.
So while the possibility of a prequel is still simply a rumor, Parker touches on the possibility of an epilogue to the SATC franchise.
She stated, I think there is perhaps one more small, important story to tell, she explained. Whether or not we choose to do that, or when we choose to do that is unknown, but it's nice to ponder.
About SATC
Sex and The City is an ironic sitcom which aired on HBO from 1998 - 2004. Since the show's completion, two films have been releases, starring the four main actresses, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
Both films received mixed reviews from critics, yet fans still flock to watch the four best friends ponder life, love, and marriage.
The film centers itself around Carrie Bradshaw, a NYC columnist who writes about sex and romance. Her friends are her family and her job is her passion. She is at times romantic, and other times a cynic - alwasy venerable to men and love.
