Dating rumors about NBC “Voice” coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have already been dismantled by celebrity hoax debunker Gossip Cop, but speculation about their supposed relationship heated up again after Season 9 of the hit reality singing show premiered on NBC Tuesday night. Could they really be having a fling after they both divorced their partners?

The theory started once more after they performed Stefani’s hit song, “Don’t Speak,” with her band No Doubt. They were widely praised on Twitter for their rendition of the 1990s classic. When Shelton sang famous lines like "you and me we use to be together, everyday together always" some fans couldn’t help but wonder if there was more than just friendship between them.

The gossip first started after Life & Style magazine reported the country singer had a “hot new romance” he wanted to keep quiet. “They’re trying to keep it on the down-low, but it’s not happening -- partly because they’re all over each other,” Life & Style reported in early September. “The chemistry between them is off the charts. Everyone on set sees that Blake and Gwen are falling for one another.”

The two found companionship after Stefani divorced from husband Gavin Rossdale and Shelton divorced from wife Miranda Lambert. “Their friendship has blossomed through both their marital issues that they’re dealing with,” an insider told Hollywood Life last week. “They have confided in each other in a way they really can’t with others because they both know how it feels being a celeb and going through stuff like this. They are a great support system for each other.”

Sorry those who hoped for a romance. Despite what Life & Style claimed, an insider told Hollywood Life the relationship between Shelton and Stefani is nothing more than platonic. “They are friends and that is it. They aren’t hooking up,” an insider said. “Blake is a great guy and lots of fun on set with everyone, but that is not turning into a relationship between him and Gwen. No truth at all.”
