Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s wedding wouldn’t be complete without her three children, and a new report says they will play huge roles in the nuptials.
An unnamed friend of the couple told People that Stefani’s sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo, whom she shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, “will have a large part” in the much-awaited wedding. The source went on to reveal that the boys are excited about the big day.
“Gwen's sons are just really solid, sweet kids, and they're so excited for Blake and Gwen to get married. They can't wait to stand by their sides," the friend said.
The insider also shared details about Shelton and Stefani’s relationship and how it blossomed, explaining that the two “were bonding over their splits and finding light in one another, but they quickly realized they have so much more in common than just going through heartbreak.”
Shelton and Stefani met in 2014 on the set of “The Voice,” where they both served as coaches. However, both of them were still married at the time – the country singer with Miranda Lambert and the “Hollaback Girl” hitmaker with Rossdale.
"They're both incredibly close to their families and their lives are rooted deeply in their faith. He just fit so seamlessly into her life, and vice versa," the source said of the engaged couple.
An insider close to Stefani also said that the 51-year-old has made it clear to Shelton that her kids are her top priority and her soon-to-be husband understands this. The “God Gave Me You” singer didn’t want to “overstep” and “made sure everyone was comfortable with his role in her sons’ lives," the source added.
In fact, Shelton made sure to get the boys’ permission before he popped the question to Stefani in his ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, in October after five years of dating. He said that he felt it was crucial that the kids were there to witness the special moment.
Shelton also said that he sought the blessing of Stefani’s dad before buying the engagement ring that jewelry experts estimated to have cost at least $250,000. He hid the bling at the door of his truck for a week.
