'BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle' Season 2 DLC Update: First DLC Characters Can Be Free
Arc System Works’ "BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle" has finally received some updates about the release of its Season 2 patch outside Japanese arcades. The new DLC will be available this May 21 and owners have a chance to get the new characters for free. Here’s what we know about this update.
According to the recent news post on the Steam page of the "BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle," the new “Arcade” patch is expected to arrive on May 21. This release time means that it’ll arrive a day before the release date on May 20 in the US. Arc System Works’ release is on schedule as the company announced that it would arrive in mid-May. The official Arc System Works site confirms the announcement is also applicable for its PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions.
Fans are waiting for this new patch as it includes four new characters namely Naoto Kurogane, Teddie, Seth, and Heart Aino. Like the other playable characters, three of these new characters come from three different series that make up its cast.
The set that contains all these four characters is called its “Volume 7” DLC. This set will also be given out for free to users who’ve completed all the previous Volume 1 to 6 DLC before the patch comes out. Obtaining each volume separately or in one whole season pass will count as long as the player has all the volumes.
The new series that enters this season 2 is “Arcana Heart 3: Love Max Six Stars!!!!!” which is from Examu. For now, Heart Aino is the sole character coming from this series to join the crossover battles. We’ll have to wait for more character announcements if we’ll see more characters for "Arcana Heart," and "RWBY" series. Both series barely have any characters to match the other series’ character pool.
Aside from new characters, old characters will also be overhauled as a major patch will also be introduced in this update. Many characters will be buffed in this patch. However, some characters have received some major nerfs which are believed to kill the character’s viability not only in professional play but also in casual matches.
For now, we’ll have to wait for a week and a few more days to get this new patch rolling.
