‘Blindspot’ Season 2 Spoilers: Reason For Zapata’s Arrest Revealed In Episode 20 [RECAP]
“Blindspot” Season 2, episode 20 recently opened with a response to the previous episode’s cliffhanger: why is Zapata (Audrey Esparza) being arrested?
In “In Words, Drown I,” the team found out that a woman named Devon (Ronda Rousey) can give them information about Sandstorm. However, Devon is in jail, and the only way to get close to her is by going inside the prison as well. Jane (Jaimie Alexander) offered to go undercover, but Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) did not agree because the Sandstorm informant might be aware of what Jane looks like. Zapata then offered to go to jail briefly just so they could get close to Devon.

While there, Devon felt that Zapata has been following her. She urged her to mind her own business, but Zapata still tried to reach out to her by handing her a toothbrush. When it was finally time to get some information from Devon, Zapata had a hard time handling the situation because Devon acted very distant. This led Weller and Jane to come up with a plan to get Devon out of prison so they can question her themselves.
The day came, and Weller disguised himself as a prison personnel. He turned off the power in the prison so that Zapata and Devon could escape. However, Jane warned the two that they only had three minutes to jump over the fence because otherwise, they would be in danger of getting electrocuted or shot down. Zapata and Devon almost did not make it, but with Jane’s help, they managed to escape prison alive. When they were finally out, Devon made it seem as though she trusted Zapata. She called her boyfriend and lied about meeting him.
What Zapata didn’t know was that Devon gave the guy a code that alerted him to the fact that she was with Zapata. In the end, Zapata’s life was once again in danger, but she survived with the help of Weller and Jane. The two had a hard time keeping Zapata safe because they also questioned each other’s loyalty.
In the episode, Jane finally came clean to Weller about what exactly happened to Emma Shaw (Stephanie Roth Haberle). Jane told Weller that Emma was killed by Roman (Luke Mitchell). A frustrated Weller questioned Jane’s intentions and asked her why she kept this information hidden from him for the past couple of weeks. Jane told Weller that she doesn’t know how he will react, and she was scared of disappointing him.
In the end, Weller set his negative feelings towards Jane aside so they could save Zapata. When the latter was finally rescued, the final scenes from “Blindspot” Season 2, episode 20 revealed that there could be more danger in store for them in the coming episodes. While at home, Roman suddenly swiped a kitchen knife at Jane after he remembered that she was the one responsible for erasing his memory. Roman was pissed at Jane for doing so, and it is possible that he could hurt her in episode 21, titled “Mom.”
“Blindspot” Season 2 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
