‘Bloodshot’ Franchise Plans Revisited: What We Know About Sequel Movies So Far
The Vin Diesel-led film “Bloodshot” just came out and those who saw it today may already be craving more from the superhero. Luckily, previous plans have been hinted at that “Bloodshot” and other hero roles will be part of a rather large franchise. Here’s everything we know so far.
Diesel’s “Bloodshot” is breaking ground as the very first Valiant Comics character to ever hit the big screen, but it’s not going to be a one-off. Inverse recently reported that Dave Wilson may be planning on putting more than a few Valiant Comics easter eggs in the ultra-violent superhero flick.
Just like Marvel and DC, Valiant Comics contains within it a bigger universe containing all their literary heroes. This also includes the popular comic franchise “Harbinger,” as was previously reported by Deadline.
Variety reports that Variant Comics property "Faith" is currently at some stage in pre-production through Sony and is being penned by "Escape Room" writer Maria Melnik. The three properties, if all goes as planned, could culminate into a “Justice League” or “Avengers: Infinity War”-style crossover ending that will overall span five different films.
If “Bloodshot” and "Faith" prove to be box office hits, fans might get to see more adaptations of popular titles, like “Rai,” “X-O Manowar,” “The Second Life of Dr. Mirage,” or “Ninjak.”
In March 2015, Valiant Comics partnered with China’s DMG to put forth a plan to make a new, darker superhero cinematic universe. This partnership extended its arms to Sony and “Fast and Furious” producer Neal H. Moritz to tackle these five mysterious films. As of right now, only “Bloodshot” and projects pertaining to “Harbinger” and "Faith" are known to be in development.
David S. F. Wilson directed the first project, with a script written by “Kick-Ass 2” writer Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer. It is unknown if they will return for any sequels or connected films.
"Bloodshot" is in theaters now.
