  • Koji Igarashi has announced a new game in the "Bloodstained" series
  • The new title comes as a result of massive funding from fans
  • The game will run on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Video game producer Koji Igarashi is happy to announce that Inti Creates and ArtPlay are working on a new titled in the “Bloodstained” franchise called “Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2.” The new game features familiar and new characters and is set in the same world as the other games.

In a YouTube video, Igarashi said they were able to create the game with the help of the many fans who backed “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night” since it was first launched in Kickstarter. The funds helped the team behind the game meet many stretch goals, which included the creation of a prequel or mini-game for various platforms including PC, consoles and portables.

As a result of the massive fanbase's support, Inti Creates and ArtPlay were able to create an 8-bit spin-off called “Curse of the Moon.” The developers also saw overwhelming positive response to that game and decided to create a new title, “Curse of the Moon 2.”

Here's what fans should know about the new title, “Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2.”

It's part of Inti Creates' 25th anniversary celebration

The part of the trailer where a preview of the game begins starts with Inti Creates displaying a logo indicating its 25th year anniversary. The description simply indicates that this game isn't just a response to overwhelming fan support – it's also the developer's way of celebrating video games.

There are four protagonists

As the trailer shows, players will be able to switch between four protagonists (after acquiring them). Two of them will be very familiar to those who played “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.” Per the game's website:

  • Zangetsu – a powerful swordsman with high damage output and health, but short range.
  • Dominique – a spear wielder who uses healing and support subweapons to help other characters.
  • Robert – a marksman who uses a musket and other ranged weapons to dispatch enemies from afar.
  • Hachi – a Welsh Corgi that was part of an experiment to pilot a “set of magicked armor.”

There's a two-player option

A detail found at the top-left part of the game screen indicates that there will be a two-player option. The trailer itself states, “will you face the demonic threat alone? Or with comrades by your side?”

The game doesn't have a release date yet. What's known is that it will come to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
