  • Massive fist fight broke out between two male passengers on Jetstar flight
  • The pilot turned the plane back around and landed at the origin airport
  • The fight broke out 24 minutes after take-off

Passengers aboard a Jetstar flight traveling from Melbourne to Brisbane on Tuesday night experienced panic after witnessing a "bloody" scuffle between two passengers.

The fight broke out just 24 minutes after take-off from Melbourne Airport in Australia. Massive chaos ensued as the men attacked each other, so much so, that the pilot turned the plane back around without warning and landed back at the origin airport, Newshub reported Thursday.

The Australian Federal Police officers removed both the brawlers from the plane, the report said. As seen in videos taken in-flight, the men refused to stop fighting and held each other's collars even when the co-passengers tried to break up the full-blown fistfight almost 30,000 ft in the air.

Speaking to 9News, a passenger called the fight "absolutely terrifying." "There was a commotion, there was yelling, people started standing up, it went on for a couple of minutes," the passenger added.

"One gentleman was then escorted to the rear of the aircraft, he had blood on his face... we didn't hear anything else, we had no information," said another passenger.

The spotlight was cast on the airline staff at the airport and on-board after a passenger said that one of the men had sparked concerns even before boarding the flight. "The guy was aggressive before he got on the plane and we thought surely they won't let him on the aircraft," the passenger said.

Talking about the incident, a Jetstar spokesperson said, "The safety of our passengers and our crew is always our first priority and we thank our customers for their patience." The flight took off toward its destination once the men were deplaned. No arrests were made in this case.

In a similar incident, passengers returning from Amsterdam to Manchester on a delayed KLM flight suffered chaos as a fight broke out between two men while waiting for their luggage. The frustration from the delayed flight, the fight, and later being told that their luggage hasn't left from Amsterdam escalated the situation and people turned on the staffer who told them about their stuck luggage.

Another striking incident from an airport was reported after a man crawled to the other side of the baggage carousel suspecting that his $1,000 sneakers were removed from his bag.
