Blue Ivy Carter Receives Honorary Citizenship Of Hvar, Croatia
Blue Ivy Carter, the baby of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and pop star Beyonce Knowles, has been granted honorary citizenship in Croatia.
Blue Ivy, who was born in January, was reportedly named in part after a tree wrapped in blue ivy that the couple had seen on their visit to the town of Hvar in September 2011.
The story of the origin of your girl's name, Blue Ivy, has brought huge media attention and great tourism promotion to the town of Hvar, said Mayor Pjerino Bebic in a letter to the power couple, reported the Telegraph. I have decided to grant your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town.
In a video posted on her blog in April, Beyonce revealed her love of the blue ivy tree.
We woke up this morning, took a nice little walk, passed by this beautiful blue tree, she said in a video from when she was pregnant, reported USA Today. I think it's Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate!
The 30-year-old singer gave birth to her daughter five months ago. Then the mayor of Hvar invited the couple to visit the tiny island town, which is situated off Croatia's central Adriatic coast, any time they like.
Hvar is known as the sunniest town in Croatia. Each year, it is estimated to have about 320 sunny days.
Since the couple visited Hvar, tourism has had a major impact on the local economy, with many vacationers eager to find the blue ivy tree, reported the Examiner.
