A new witness has detailed her interaction with Bob Saget hours before his death in Florida.

In a phone interview with Orange County Police, Ponte Vedra Concert Hall staffer Rosalie Cocci said the late comedian was not feeling well in the evening of Jan. 8, when he performed his final stand-up set at the theater.

Cocci, who runs errands for the talents and staff members at the theater, said she heard Saget mention that he had been suffering from the long-term effects of COVID-19. He also said his hearing had been “off” and that it was taking his body a long time to get over it.

“I did hear him say, ‘I don’t feel good, but I’m ready to do the show. This is what I do this for,’” Cocci told the police. “He kinda seemed like he was talking himself up. He stated himself that it was taking his body a long time to get over COVID. He said that his hearing had been off and that was the case that night. He was asking the sound guys to turn everything up.”

Cocci added that Saget, who tested positive for COVID-19 weeks before he died and at the time of his autopsy, also showed symptoms of the virus night before his death.

“He said he had been sick the night before, he said he had a sore throat, that he was happy he had lozenges for the stage. Mr. Saget’s soundcheck lasted a while,” she continued.

Cocci went on to reveal that Saget did not ingest anything—not even water—on the night of his performance. She said it was part of her job to purchase whatever Saget wanted to eat or drink, but that night, the actor only wanted a soda and an energy drink.

“All there was on there was drinks. He wanted Redbull, Diet Coke and regular Coke and that was it,” she said, adding that he did not even drink water on stage.

Despite that, Cocci recalled that Saget seemed generally okay during his stand-up routine so the news of his death was totally unexpected.

“He seemed okay. He really did and it was very surprising the next day. He came out very energetic, and in the half-an-hour, I saw him, he was very much entertaining the crowd,” she added.
