Bob Saget's Final Movie: Director Jeremy LaLonde Reveals The Comedian's 'Fatherly' Involvement
Jeremy LaLonde, who served as a director on Bob Saget's final movie, opened up about the late comedian's "fatherly" involvement in the flick. Saget died at the age of 65 in January this year.
Saget's final movie, titled "Daniel's Gotta Die," is slated to premiere at Austin Film Festival this year. The comedian will be seen playing Lawrence's character in the movie.
The director reflected his thoughts on the sudden passing of the comedian and how much he loved the script. LaLonde shared that Saget took the "very fatherly role right from the start; eager to help out in any way he could."
"Bob's passing came as a shock to the entire Daniel's Gotta Die team. He was a collaborator through and through and he really loved this film," LaLonde told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. "It's with great sadness that he never got to see it finished."
"Daniel's Gotta Die" revolves around a man named Daniel (played by Joel David Moore), who learns that his family wants to kill him for the sake of his inheritance. The story is penned by Matthew Dressel.
While LaLonde didn't disclose what Saget's character will be doing in the movie, he did praise the late comedian for bringing the "character's heart to the surface of the script and was intent on making sure he always got it just right."
According to the 41-year-old Canadian filmmaker, Saget always used to keep the scripts in hand whenever he was on the sets. He also shared how Saget used to talk to him about the script often, just to make sure the character was being played on-screen in the right way.
"He helped us craft a beautiful and heart-warming send-off and I think people will really appreciate it," the director added. "I can't wait to see how audiences react to his final performance at Austin Film Festival with his final gift to all that loved him."
Saget was found dead in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida. Orange County Sheriff's Office tweeted earlier this year that they found an "unresponsive man in a hotel room" and the man was "identified as Robert Saget."
Considering the late comedian's previous work, he was popularly known for playing Danny Tanner on "Full House" from 1987 to 1995.
