Police held a Tennessee woman Thursday after turning herself in for alleged involvement in the death of a Titusville, Florida, woman whose body was found in the trunk of the suspect’s car.

Courtney Dawn Gibson, 28, turned herself into police in Wilson County, Tennessee, Wednesday for her alleged part in the death of Anna Primavere, 36, whose body was found in the trunk of a red Kia Forte that reportedly belonged to Gibson. The car was found outside the home of Gibson’s parents in Lebanon, Tennessee, where police obtained a search warrant.

Primavere had been reported missing Friday and was last reportedly seen at her apartment in Titusville.

“Sadly, for everyone involved, this ended in the worst-case scenario,” Titusville Police Lt. Chris Deloach told reporters.

Gibson was reportedly seen Friday at the same building as Primavere, reportedly babysitting the landlord’s child. Police said investigators suspected Gibson killed Primavere between 7 p.m. and midnight Friday “in a violent manner” before fleeing the scene. She was next seen Saturday leaving the area with a mattress on the roof of her car that was burned on the side of the road.

Police said Primavere’s mattress was missing from her apartment.

Gibson was identified as a person of interest by police in the search and contacted by police on Sunday. However, police said she was uncooperative and then disappeared.

After Primavere’s body was found, Gibson’s car was seized by police as evidence and a national manhunt was declared.
