bold and the beautiful
Rick (Jacob Young) gives Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) a stipulation when she asks him for his blessing before marrying Ridge (Thorsten Kaye, not pictured) on the Jan. 31, 2017 episode of "The Bold and the Beautiful."  CBS

She and Ridge have officially announced that they intend to marry as soon as possible and are going forward with their wedding plans. However, Brooke will encounter one potential snag when her son once again does not express support for her choice on the Wednesday, Jan. 31 episode of "The Bold and the Beautiful."

Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) are going forward with their wedding plans on the CBS soap, and know to expect some detractors, specifically Rick (Jacob Young) and Thorne (Ingo Rademacher), who have expressed their displeasure over Ridge's position as CEO at Forrester, as well as the fact that Brooke is with him again.

Sure enough, Thorne seemed annoyed by the announcement, but Ridge decided to test his brother's loyalty to him by asking him to be his best man. Now, Thorne has accepted, and it seems the brothers are finally burying their animosity, something that will make Eric (John McCook) overjoyed when he witnesses it.

"I'm more proud of both of you right now than I have ever been in my life," he says in a preview clip.

Meanwhile, Brooke will be going to Rick, the son she shares with Eric, to get his blessing for her marriage plans, and unsurprisingly, he won't support the decision. He has never cared for the romance his mother shares with Ridge, especially since they have always been on and off for decades and won't believe that this time will be forever for them either.

However, Brooke will try to reassure her son by reminding him of everything he's done for her, letting him know that she appreciates everything, but needs his support now most of all.

"You're my rock. You're my fierce protector," she says in the clip. "And you've always been so supportive of me."

Finally, Rick my decide to come around and tell his mother he will support her decision to marry Ridge once again, but he will also admit that he wants something else out of it. Depending on the condition he gives his mother, it could throw a big wrench in her overall plans.

"The Bold and the Beautiful" airs weekdays at 1:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
