‘The Bold Type’ Season 2: 6 Things That Must Happen Next Year
“The Bold Type” is not coming back to the small screen for a while, but we can dream. The Freeform drama stole the hearts of many viewers this summer, and it has already been renewed for two more seasons. While we wait for Season 2 to premiere, it seems like a good time to put together a Season 2 wish list. These are the things that we want to see in the new episodes.
Jane Returns To Scarlet: Jane (Katie Stevens) ended Season 1 by quitting Scarlet. She took a job at a newer political website after she felt she wouldn’t be able to pursue her serious interests at Scarlet. Honestly, it seemed a little too fast. Jane spent the first several episodes explaining why Scarlet was her dream job, but she left the second she got an offer that sounded more magical. She needs to realize that no job is going to give you dream assignments every day.
Sutton And Richard Make A Change: Sutton (Meghann Fahy) and Richard (Sam Page) are not getting over each other. That was made clear in the finale, but Scarlet is very strict when it comes to employee relations. Richard has said repeatedly that he doesn’t want to lose his job, so breaking up was the only logical option. But they need to either move on or ignore the rules. The “we can’t be together but let’s give each other longing looks” phase is only entertaining for so long.
Pinstripe Returns: Janestripe ended before it even started, but he doesn’t have to be around solely for Jane’s love story. Ryan (Dan Jeannotte) proved that he didn’t just have great romantic chemistry with Jane, but he also seemed to get along with Alex (Matt Ward), Sutton and Kat (Aisha Dee). It seems like he might be perfect for a Scarlet column from a man’s perspective.
Adina Should Be A Series Regular: Kat and Adina quickly became one of the show’s most popular couples, but actress Nikohl Boosheri did not appear in every episode (to be fair, neither did anyone else’s love interests). However, we wouldn’t mind seeing her with Kat every week.
Jacqueline’s Personal Life: We know what Jacqueline (Melora Hardin) is like as a boss and mentor. She’s strong, and she teaches the girls valuable lessons. But what is her life like when she’s not trying to be a role model or assign articles? She’s a powerful character who would become even stronger if we knew a little more about what happens when she’s not guiding her 20-something employees. Jacqueline is interesting enough that she could definitely carry her own standalone episode.
Parents: Jane, Kat and Sutton are three very different girls from very different backgrounds, and their personalities have inevitably been shaped by their parents. It would be interesting to see how any of the girls interact with their families.
While we hope to see these things next year, no spoilers from the new episodes have been released yet. Fans of “The Bold Type” will have to wait and see what new showrunner Amanda Lasher decides to do in Season 2. She replaces Sarah Watson, but Lasher is more than qualified. She is responsible for the too-short, but well-written “Sweet/Vicious” on MTV.
Viewers will get to see what she does with the show when “The Bold Type” returns. Season 2 is expected to air on Freeform in 2018, but no release date has been confirmed yet.
