‘The Bold Type’ Spoilers: Episode 6 Video Clips Reveal Sutton’s New Challenges

“The Bold Type” is giving fans plenty of video clips to get them excited for Season 1, episode 6. The episode will follow Kat and Jane as they help with Scarlet’s breast health awareness issue, and Sutton will be trying to adjust to her new job in the fashion department. Sneak Peek No. 1

In this clip, Sutton (Meghann Fahy) arrives for her first day at her new gig. She passes her desk and seems happy to have moved on from getting green juice for Lauren every day. Jane (Katie Stevens) and Kat (Aisha Dee) are overly supportive, and Sutton walks in with her head held high — until Oliver (Stephen Conrad Moore) makes it clear he is already irritated. “From now on early is on time and on time is late,” Oliver warns her.

Sneak Peek No. 2

Sutton still finds a moment to spend with Richard (Sam Page) in “The Bold Type” Season 1, episode 6, but even then, she’ll be thinking about her job. Luckily, Richard gives her a little confidence boost. He recalls how Sutton approached him for the first time “with purpose.”

Sutton reveals that their first time hanging out was based on a lie. She claimed that Jane ditched her at the last minute, but she was actually meeting someone from Tinder. She even had to hide from her date as she and Richard were talking.

“See, right there? You are good at getting what you want,” Richard points out.

Sneak Peek No. 3

Kat posted a photo of a topless protest on Scarlet’s Instagram, but photos of women’s nipples violate Instagram’s rules. Kat tells Jaqueline (Melora Hardin) that she knew the post was a problem. Several other media outlets are already talking about their post being removed, and that was her plan all along.

“That’s an aggressive strategy, which I like,” Jacqueline says. “But for the time being, I want you to stop.” The board of directors took notice and the Instagram account reaches too many people to risk being shut down. Kat doesn’t seem happy with Jacqueline’s demand, but will she listen to her boss?

Sneak Peek No. 4

Jane and Alex (Matt Ward) are in an editorial meeting with Jacqueline when Alex brings up BRCA gene testing. Alex knows of a doctor who recommends women in their twenties get tested for the breast cancer gene if they have a family history of it. Jane thinks that’s way too young. She’s even more outraged when she hears that this doctor is performing preventative double mastectomies on women Jane’s age.

Jacqueline sees Jane’s discomfort, so naturally, this is Jane’s story. She’s uncomfortable with the assignment, but her boss is adamant. “I like that you have an opinion. Go in, ask her the tough questions,” Jacqueline says.

What the video clips do not reveal is that this episode is going to be a heavy one for Jane. It will explore Jane’s backstory and how her mother died. “One of the most emotional episodes is the episode that delves into my character’s backstory and life and things that she’s had to deal with growing up,” Stevens told International Business Times at ATX TV Festival. “When we did the pilot, when we find out that Jane lost her mom, I wasn’t really sure of how because I don’t think that the writers had even decided that and so you find out a little bit more of that. But yeah, that was definitely an emotional episode.”
