Indian tax officials in Mumbai has searched the homes and offices of two of Bollywood’s leading actresses, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, on suspicions that they have evaded paying taxes on earnings derived from advertisements, foreign assignments and guest appearances.”

Kaif and Chopra are among the highest-paid stars in Bollywood.

In addition, the office of a top Bollywood photographer, Atul Kasbekar, was also raided.

Media reports allege that government tax officials have sealed a dozen bank lockers belonging to the three targets of the investigation, and collected various bank statements, property documents and details of their investments.

Chopra, 28, is a former Miss World, and has appeared in almost thirty films since debuting in 2002. Ironically, last year Chopra appeared in a short government-sponsored film promoting tax compliance.

Kaif, 26, was a top model before making her Bollywood debut and become one of the industry’s most popular actresses.
