With the next James Bond film due out in spring of 2020, there have been plenty of questions around what the next Daniel Craig-led film could pit the MI6 agent against. Some of those questions were answered Thursday morning with a live stream from Goldeneye, Jamaica.

While still untitled, the "Bond 25" synopsis was released to give fans a taste of what is in store for Mr. Bond. It reads: “Bond has left active service. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”

Producer Barbara Broccoli took it a little further, explaining that Bond has been “enjoying himself in Jamaica” when the film starts.

Director Cary Joji Fukunaga also got the chance to talk about his excitement for being chosen to lead the film. “I want to make sure that this run of films…have a really great next chapter and just keep upping the ante so whoever is next has a harder job,” he said.

Fukunaga most famously directed season one of “True Detective” and was originally slated to direct “It” but left the project over creative differences.

The official cast was also announced for “Bond 25,” confirming previous rumors surrounding the film. The host of the live stream was joined by returning stars Daniel Craig, Naomie Harris, and Lea Seydoux along with new stars Ana de Armas and Lashana Lynch. It was also confirmed that Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, and Rory Kinnear would be making their return alongside other newcomers David Dencik and Dali Benssalah.

But most notable by his absence was Rami Malek, who had previously been rumored to be joining “Bond 25.” The Oscar-winner, who is currently working in New York, confirmed via a pre-recorded video he would indeed be playing the villain set to challenge Bond in the upcoming film.

And like previous films, “Bond 25” will take place all over the world. Fukunaga confirmed that they will be filming in the Caribbean, Norway, London, and Italy.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer to find out what the title will be for “Bond 25.” The film is currently slated to release in U.S. theaters on April 8, 2020.
