Gearbox Software will have a show in the upcoming PAX East 2019 this March 28 to 31. It’s confirmed to have some new announcements which could potentially include the news for the long awaited “Borderlands 3.” Here’s what we know about this.

As seen on the official PAX East site, Gearbox Software will hold their “Gearbox Main Theater Show” on the first day of the event at 2 p.m. EST. The show will last an hour and is said to have “never-before-seen reveals, exclusives, and surprises.” For now, no news or teases have been released about these new updates, but many Gearbox fans are sure to stay tuned to their announcements.

So far, Gearbox Software still has to recover from the dismal outcome of “Battleborn” last 2016. While the game had a lot of potential on its own, it didn’t manage to get a large enough playerbase which could sustain the game in the long run. Eventually, Gearbox confirmed that they’ll stop updating “Battleborn” after their fall update while its servers continued running. While “Battleborn” is technically on life support, it gives hope to "Borderlands" fans as Gearbox can work on this title again once more.

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has also confirmed that they’re currently working on the game that the fans want them to focus on which could heavily lean toward to “Borderlands 3.” No official reveal about “Borderlands 3” has been shown yet, but “Battleborn” held an easter egg that the next "Borderlands" game would be set in “Promethea,” which is full of unearthed alien technology.

Currently, the “Borderlands” series has yet to be continued after its last main entry “Borderlands 2” and its Telltale Game “Tales From The Borderlands.” While the "Borderlands" series is known to have taken out some of the fan-favorite characters in the game, we’ve yet to how will Gearbox plans to shape the next “Borderlands 3.”

More than “Borderlands,” the PAX East announcement also mentioned “Battleborn” and “Brothers in Arms.” Potentially, a spiritual successor or a next entry could also come from these games.
