  • Sergey Kovalev sued again for breach of contract
  • Kovalev was accused of assault in June 2018
  • Jamie Frontz will demand a greater amount than $650,000

Russian boxing champ Sergey Kovalev is set to face another legal contest after he allegedly failed to settle a prior assault lawsuit worth $650,000.

Jamie Frontz accused the 36-year-old boxer of throwing a smack on her face sometime around June 2018 after she apparently denied the latter’s “romantic advances” as described in the story published by TMZ Sports. Further into the report revealed that the attack damaged the victim physically, causing a broken nose, displaced disk, and a concussion.

Frontz immediately called the authorities following the incident which, as she claimed, also injured her pet dog.

Frontz had initially filed an assault and battery case against Kovalev where the multiple-time light heavyweight champ was demanded to pay $8 million. The aggrieved Frontz, however, decided to drop the case after what she said was a confidential settlement between her and the suspected fighter.

Apparently, Kovalev failed to honor the secret agreement, forcing Frontz to take the non-settlement over to another legal proceeding. As gathered by TMZ, the confidential deal between the two parties stated that Kovalev agreed to pay the victim the said $650,000 in three installment payments. The accused boxer is said to have paid the initial $250,000 but has failed to deliver the outstanding amount since.

The report also said that Frontz is confident that Kovalev has the means to settle her, citing the boxer’s lucrative proceeds from his bout against Canelo Alvarez last November. “Frontz believes Kovalev should easily have the money -- claiming in her lawsuit he was guaranteed to make at least $10 MILLION from his Nov. fight against Canelo Alvarez.”

The new lawsuit has Frontz suing Kovalev for breach of contract, and present indications show that the complaining victim could demand “Krusher” a greater amount than the precedent.

No. 5 -- Sergey Kovalev (30-0-1), light heavyweight
Kovalev is among the best knockout artists in boxing, but needed a decision to hold off Isaac Chilemba in his last fight. He will jump higher on this list with a victory over Ward. Kovalev went 12 rounds to defeat Bernard Hopkins in 2014, so he may have trouble against a clever boxer like Ward. Getty
