  • Justine Fortune weighs in on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr. bout
  • Fortune is confident Pacquiao's abilities will be enough to beat Spence
  • Some of the Filipino boxer's most notable opponents share their prediction on the upcoming fight

Manny Pacquiao's trainer Justin Fortune talked about how the team is prepping up for the Filipino boxing legend's upcoming bout against Errol Spence Jr.

Pacquiao has already started his training camp for the Spence fight. Despite his age, the Filipino fistic sensation boasts he is in “beast mode” ahead of his highly-anticipated return.

Discussing the progress of the world’s only eight-division titlist, Fortune--Pacquiao’s longtime strength and conditioning coach--revealed that the team isn’t coming up with a different strategy against Spence.

Instead, Fortune is confident that they only need to get Pacquiao back in shape and his abilities will get the job done once again.

“Every time you got to a Pacquiao fight, it’s always explosion and excitement,” Fortune recently told Little Giant Boxing. “That’s what Manny brings to fights [and] that’s why people love watching him.”

“And that’s Pacquiao,” he continued. “We’ll get him in shape as fast, as agile as he always is and explosive .”

To his defense, Fortune stressed that he doesn’t need to be “biased” about Pacquiao as he was only putting into words what he has been witnessing in the 42-year-old thus far.

“Win or lose, you know, he (Pacquiao) goes down as the best fighter in history in the modern era for sure,” the coach emphasized. “No one will ever do what he’s done ever. He’s the definition of a champion. He’s lost and comeback and defeated those losses.”

“I’m not just biased ‘coz he’s my mate but we’ve been training for a long time and we know his abilities,” he added.

Pacquiao is widely considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. The said recognition, as well his age, has got some boxing personalities, including his former rival Erik Morales, questioning the sudden itch to face an undefeated and younger like Spence.

“It’s a real complicated fight for Pacquiao,” Morales told Fighthype of Pacquiao vs. Spence. “Errol Spence is a strong young fighter, and he’s a southpaw.”

“That’s going to complicate things for Pacquiao,” he pointed out. “I don’t understand what the motivation is to get in the ring with Errol Spence.”

Like Morales, Timothy Bradley also shared the ring with Pacquiao three times in the past.

Weighing in on the upcoming title fight, Bradley also thinks Spence will a tough opponent for “Pac-Man.”

“Pacquiao is one of those guys that picks and chooses guys that he believes he’s got a little bit of an advantage,” Bradley told SnowqueenLA. “I think that he sees that Spence is a little slower than what he’s used to fighting.”

“Spence being the southpaw, taller, you got to go with Spence as far as the favorite goes."
