July has been a relatively quiet month for boxing following the controversial loss of Manny Pacquiao to heavy underdog Jeff Horn, but it ends with a few intriguing fights. The summer really heats up, however, in August and September with two superfights and a crucial championship rematch.

Junior welterweight Adrien Broner (33-2, 24 KOs), who has won three consecutive fights after his loss to Shawn Porter in June 2015, provides the first big test for burgeoning Mikey Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) Saturday at Barclays Center. On the undercard, junior middleweight Jermall Charlo (25-0, 19 KOs) looks to continue his ascendancy when he faces Argentine Jorge Sebastian Heiland in a WBC eliminator. Meanwhile, Sadam Ali faces Johan Perez in a 10-round welterweight fight in Tucson, Arizona.

But there are much bigger fights on the schedule that should pique the interest of casual boxing fans.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor (154 pounds) - Aug. 26, 2017

Those who aren't well-versed in the intricacies of combat sports may feel overwhelming anticipation to see these two famed fighters square off. But to dedicated boxing enthusiasts, the fight is a viewed as a sideshow and a farce. But both sides can agree that there is plenty of interest in this fight.

Mayweather, a five-division champion, seeks to complete his boxing career with a 50-0 record, while McGregor, who has a 21-3 record in UFC, is looking to pull off one of the biggest upsets in sports history by beating a legend in his professional boxing debut.

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs. Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (115 pounds) - Sept. 9, 2017

In a rematch for Sor Rungvisai's WBC junior bantamweight title, Chocolatito will look to regain his place among the best pound-for-pound boxers after his stunning defeat to the Thai star in March. While Rungvisai knocked down Chocolatito in the first round with a clean body shot, his decision victory was considered very controversial.

There should be a lot of attention on this fight, as Chocolatito looks to reclaim his place among boxing's best.

Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez (160 pounds) - Sept. 16, 2017

Perhaps the finest collection of middleweight talent to step into the ring since Marvin Hagler fought Sugar Ray Leonard in 1987, Golovkin and Alvarez are two highly polished sluggers that have combined to knock out 89.5 percent of their opponents.

The WBA, WBC, IBF, IBO and The Ring belts will be on the line what promises to be an epic battle. Though Alvarez tasted defeat to Mayweather, the undefeated Golovkin is considered the biggest test of his career.
