Receiving a nifty gadget on Christmas Day can certainly make any boy happy. However, when he gets to swallow it, the parents will certainly have a nightmare during the holidays!
This is what happened to the parents of a 7-year-old Georgia boy who was rushed to the hospital after he accidentally swallowed the AirPod that was given to him as a present. It would seem that because of his overexcitement, he accidentally sucked the whole wireless earbud in.
According to an NYPost report, Kiara Stroud stated that her son was able to accidentally swallow it when the young boy was “holding it in his mouth by the long part.” The hospital did an X-ray, and true enough, the wireless bud could be seen lying on the floor of his abdomen.
The mom then took to Facebook and shared her son’s story. In her post, she said, “I can’t make this up. My child, my child. Thanks for all the prayers. We’re home. No more airpods for this kid.”
While adults can very well understand what transpired, the young boy seems to find it hard trying to get over the incident. He feared that his stomach would soon start playing music. The little boy also said that he doesn’t want the AirPod to connect to his phone, and he doesn’t even like to be near his phone.
For the mom, she is bent on sticking to wired earphones until such time that her son would be old enough to use the AirPod. Since the gadget is very small, the case of Kiara’s son is not the first accidental swallowing recorded.
There was reportedly a man from Taiwan who also swallowed the small gadget. Just like the 7-year-old, he simply let the AirPod pass through his system. The good news was that it was able to do so.
Indeed, giving a child the Christmas present that he had been waiting for, or maybe, the niftiest gadget you could find, can elicit peals of laughter. However, when the age of the child becomes disproportionate to the kind of device, then maybe close supervision could help ward off untoward incidents.
