A boy was blown into the air after a sewer exploded under him. The incident took place in northern China's Hebei province on Nov. 29.

A video of the incident released Monday showed the unidentified boy walking toward the manhole while playing with his friend.

He can be seen sitting down and putting an object, reportedly a lit match stick, into the metal cover which ignited the trapped methane inside the manhole. Soon after, the sewer exploded under his feet as soon as he stood up and the boy was launched into the air by the impact of the explosion. He spun 360 degrees in mid-air and fell onto the hard ground.

The boy was not seriously injured in the incident, however, he did sustain minor injuries due to loose stones that hit his face and caused slight bleeding.

The manhole’s cover was also launched into the air due to the powerful blast and landed a few feet away from the two children. According to reports, an eyewitness said the manhole cover sustained damages and was largely destroyed due to the explosion. Another person mentioned that he heard the explosion from inside his house which was on the 9th floor of a nearby building.
