Boyzone Gately to be buried in Ireland on Saturday
The funeral of late Boyzone singer Stephen Gately, who died on the Spanish island of Majorca over the weekend, will be held in Dublin on Saturday, his bandmates said on their website on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old's body has been released by Spanish authorities following an autopsy and will be repatriated to his native Ireland on Friday, they added.
A post mortem revealed on Tuesday that Gately died of natural causes due to fluid on the lungs, a court official said.
He is now lying in a chapel of rest in a small village in the hills of Majorca whilst repatriation formalities continue, the remaining four members of the boy band said.
Ronan, Keith, Mikey & Shane visited Stephen's parents in Dublin on Tuesday to pay their respects and confirm the family's final wishes for Stephen. The Boyz plan to return to Majorca on Friday to bring their brother back home to Dublin. There will be a private family mass in Dublin on Friday night followed by a funeral service at St. Lawrence O'Toole church on Saturday at noon.
There are also plans for a memorial service in London, where Gately lived with his partner Andrew Cowles.
