BPCorrect: A Scientific Approach In Accurate Home Blood Pressure Monitoring
KEY POINTS
- Accurate BP reading is crucial in effective blood pressure management
- While there are lots of blood pressure apps, some of them provide inaccurate results
- BPCorrect is a platform that uses a scientific approach in blood pressure monitoring
Research shows that people with high blood pressure who used smartphone apps and BP monitors have successfully driven down their blood pressure. Unfortunately, blood pressure measured at home or even at a doctor's clinic can be inaccurate too. An accurate reading is critical in the proper diagnosis and management of the patient's high blood pressure. To solve this issue, Stevara LLC launched the BPCorrect.
Scientific approach, accurate and reliable result
Developed by general internist Dr. Cara Litvin and physician Dr. Steven Ornstein, BPCorrect is a mobile app and a remote monitoring platform that integrates a patient's mobile app and a clinician's portal to help doctors and patients manage and diagnose high blood pressure.
While there is a myriad of health and blood pressure monitoring software available in the market these days, BPCorrect is the only app that uses a scientific approach for measuring blood pressure at home to achieve an accurate reading. It offers a step-by-step process on how to properly take blood pressure readings using the method recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Patients monitoring their blood pressure at home are required to follow a strict schedule. They must consistently take these readings in the morning and evening for seven days and all of these are available in BPCorrect.
Aside from this, the app also comes with instructions on proper posture and positioning for taking blood pressure. It also advises users to take a five-minute rest before subjecting themselves to blood pressure reading. After three consecutive days of at-home BP monitoring, the BPCorrect calculates a running average, which is a far better assessment compared to individual readings.
Ease of use, accessibility and helpful tools
BPCorrect works with the majority of BP monitor brands patients use at home. It comes with a wide range of tools that are helpful in the process of accurate at-home blood pressure monitoring.
This includes a diary or logbook feature that allows users to log BP readings in an organized manner. It also comes with a reminder function for better monitoring and scheduled medications.
BPCorrect provides users with substantial information on how to measure blood pressure correctly. The app has analysis tools like graph and trend analysis that offer an overview of the patient's blood pressure over time.
The app also features a portal for doctors to securely see the patient's BP readings. Experts can aggregate these readings and underline out-of-range blood pressure.
Patients can also export BP readings from the app, along with other data, and send them by print or email.
BPCorrect is available on PC, Android and iOS devices. The app costs $1.99
Final verdict
With a plethora of apps and products to help people monitor and measure their blood pressure, readings taken without a proper schedule, incorrect posture and inadequate rest could lead to inaccurate or misleading results. BPCorrect is designed by doctors and follows a scientific approach to ensure accurate BP readings. It is for these reasons that we believe BPCorrect deserves to receive our Best of CES 2022 award.
