Brad Pitt is hurt over the leak that ex-wife Angelina Jolie will testify about alleged spousal abuse in their ongoing custody and divorce case, a report says.
Pitt and Jolie called it quits in 2016. However, four years later, the former Hollywood couple has yet to reach a conclusion regarding their divorce and the custody of their six children — Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
But Jolie filed new documents last week indicating her and their children's willingness to offer "proof and authority in support" of her abuse allegations against Pitt.
"Brad is heartbroken that Angelina has gone that route. There’s a lot of emotion left after their marriage," an unnamed source close to Pitt told Page Six. "He has taken responsibility for his actions and owned up to his past issues, he’s stopped drinking."
"The marriage was very passionate and toxic at times and — like all couples — they had fights, but also shared many good times together. He has talked about his drink and drug problems during the time they were together," the insider continued.
The "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star was accused of child abuse after an alleged altercation between him and their son, Maddox, on board a private jet with their family back in 2016. However, Pitt was later cleared after an investigation and was also never charged for any offense when he and Jolie were still together.
The Page Six insider claimed Jolie's camp may be attempting to manipulate the situation ahead of the judge's verdict.
"Brad and his camp has never attacked Angelina. But his camp feels this leak was calculated to sway opinion ahead of the conclusion of their trial," the source added. "Brad feels like he’s being more and more isolated from his children, and he’s devastated about it."
Meanwhile, Us Weekly reported that Maddox has already testified against Pitt in the exes' ongoing custody dispute, with an unnamed source saying his testimony "wasn't very flattering toward" his dad. Maddox also no longer uses Pitt as his last name on documents that aren't legal, the source added.
In August, Jolie requested to remove Judge John W. Ouderkirk, who married them, from overseeing their divorce and custody case for allegedly not disclosing his ongoing business and professional relationships between himself and Pitt's lawyers. The judge denied Jolie’s allegation, declaring he had no personal bias or prejudice toward any person involved in the case.
Pitt requested to dismiss her petition, and his request was approved in November 2020.
